Here is Yoon Lee testing the performance of her flexible organic semiconducting sensor. She collaborated with engineers of our partner institution where she provided her self-made flexible sensor into an electronic glove made by the engineering team to trigger the movement of a simple robotic finger model. Collaborative mindset is one of the key values encouraged in the ASA.

This was an early prototype of an organic semiconducting device that Yoon Lee made. Her project revolves around the investigation of more environmentally friendly electronics in the context of emerging e-waste problem around the world.

This is another prototype made by Yoon Lee, an electroluminescent device that lights up when it is given electricity. To create the device, Yoon had to learn the general device construction method from the scientific literature reported by other research group around the world. In the ASA, students are encouraged to explore new science and new ideas under the guidance of mentors who are active researchers or practitioners in their fields of expertise.

Our first international scientific article publication by Jason K. Adhinarta. Jason investigated a phosphorescent materials, a material that absorbs light but release its energy over a long period of time. His work provided an interesting perspective on how we may be able to use this material to store light energy. Just like a battery but for light energy.

Biotechnology is a popular research field for our ASA students. Here Anabel (left) is carrying out experiments with her mentor where she learns first hand how to carry out aseptic microbiology experiments.

This is a simple experimental setup by Jason Hojiasheng who had an idea of using egg shell waste products and turning them into useful materials for filtration and purification of solutions.

Our Program

ASA is an after school program where students get to perform free exploration guided under experienced mentor with full laboratory access to the school's facility and with our partner institutions.
